“‘False claims,’ I’m not leaving APC – Omo-Agege”

Former Senate Deputy President and APC governorship candidate in Delta State during the 2023 general election, Ovie Omo-Agege, has dismissed rumors that he is planning to leave the APC.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media adviser, Sunny Areh, Omo-Agege referred to the report as unfounded and a product of speculative journalism lacking any factual basis.

The rumors suggested that Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the Senate in the 9th Session, was considering abandoning the APC to join forces with Mallam Nasir el-Rufai to form a new political party. Omo-Agege described the story as not only false but nonsensical.

“After leading the APC to its best-ever performance in the 2023 elections in Delta State, where the party secured two of the three senatorial seats, and I was unfairly denied victory in the governorship race, any association with the alleged political group linked to the former Kaduna State governor is completely fabricated,” he stated.

He further explained that the report was part of a smear campaign orchestrated by political forces seeking to drive a wedge between him and President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Omo-Agege said that the rumor was part of a deliberate effort to blackmail him and sabotage the APC.

He reiterated his unwavering commitment to completing the task of rescuing Delta State from years of underperforming administrations, with the goal of achieving success in 2027.

“As the leader of the APC in Delta State, I remain steadfast, committed, and focused on the mission of rescuing the state and completing the work we started, culminating in 2027,” he concluded.
