A Nigerian woman, identified on TikTok as @Awele, has shared a harrowing experience in which a short visit to her cousin’s home turned into nearly a year of detention.
According to her account, she had planned to stay only three days, but her cousin convinced her to remain for one extra night—a decision that dramatically changed her life. That same night, armed robbers invaded the house demanding mobile phones. While she handed over her phone immediately, her cousin refused and was stabbed during the altercation.
Her cousin was hospitalized for two days but tragically died on the third day. Instead of mourning together, the cousin’s parents accused @Awele of orchestrating the attack due to a longstanding dispute between their fathers.
As a result, she spent 11 months in detention, missing her graduation and causing significant financial strain on her family, who borrowed money to support her legal defense. She described witnessing her father break down in tears as the most painful part of the ordeal.
