AFCON: Davido Reacts After Losing ₦495 Million Bet Following Super Eagles’ Defeat

Afrobeats superstar Davido has finally reacted after losing a massive $348,000 (approximately ₦495 million) bet following Nigeria’s defeat to Morocco at the semi-final stage of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The highly anticipated clash ended in a tense goalless draw after extra time, before Morocco triumphed 4–2 on penalties, with goalkeeper Yassine Bounou emerging as the hero to send the host nation into the final.

Ahead of the match, Davido had publicly revealed that he placed a $50,000 bet on the Super Eagles to qualify for the final, with an expected payout of $348,000.

Sharing his betting slip, the singer wrote:

“Nigerians to make the finals and I’ll double my stake on my slip.”

However, the Super Eagles failed to secure victory, dashing the singer’s high-stakes prediction.

Following the loss, Davido appeared unfazed as he shared a photo of himself relaxing over a plate of grilled fish while preparing to depart Morocco. The post quickly sparked reactions online, with fans and critics debating the risks of celebrity betting and the sheer scale of the amount lost.

While some social media users criticised the wager, others brushed it off as lighthearted entertainment or possible promotional content, noting that Davido appeared calm and unbothered by the outcome.
