Bengaluru Traffic Snarls: Marathahalli–Ecospace Stretch Clogged Since 3 PM — Routes to Avoid

Bengaluru | October 14, 2025:
Commuters on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) faced a harrowing evening on Tuesday as massive traffic congestion brought movement to a crawl between Marathahalli, Bellandur, and Ecospace — one of the city’s busiest IT corridors.

According to multiple reports, traffic was at a standstill since 3 PM, with several commuters stuck for over an hour on the stretch connecting Marathahalli to Ecospace.

‘Unreal Jam,’ Say Commuters

A post on Reddit from a stranded commuter captured the frustration:

“Extreme traffic from Marathahalli to Ecospace. Standstill. Unreal traffic jam today.”

The user also cautioned others to delay their commute:

“If you’re leaving office and heading from Marathahalli towards Silk Board, leave after 6 PM — but check maps first.”

Vehicle Breakdown Triggers Gridlock

Soon after complaints flooded social media, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) issued an advisory confirming that a vehicle breakdown near the Ecospace junction had caused a bottleneck, intensifying the already heavy evening rush.

The stretch — which houses several major tech parks and corporate offices — often witnesses heavy traffic, but Tuesday’s situation worsened due to ongoing Metro worknarrow lanes, and vehicles taking detours through residential areas.

Routes to Avoid

According to BTP, traffic remained extremely slow on:

  • Kadubeesanahalli
  • Devarabisanahalli
  • Bellandur Junction
  • Ecospace–Marathahalli stretch

Commuters were urged to avoid these routes and check Google Maps for live diversions before leaving offices.

Slow Clearance by Evening

By late evening, police reported gradual improvement, though congestion persisted around Bellandur flyover and Ecospace junction. Traffic personnel were deployed at multiple points to ease the bottlenecks.

Photos and videos shared on social media showed long queues of vehicles with barely any movement, prompting renewed calls for better traffic management and public transport alternatives along the ORR corridor.

Persistent ORR Woes

The Marathahalli–Ecospace–Silk Board stretch remains one of Bengaluru’s worst traffic hotspots, frequently choking during office hours and weekends. Despite several proposed infrastructure upgrades — including signal-free corridors, Metro expansion, and additional service roads — commuters say relief remains distant.
