BUA Chairman Samad Rabiu Keeps $500,000 Pledge to Super Eagles Despite Loss to Morocco

Nigerian businessman and BUA Group Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu has reaffirmed his commitment to reward the Super Eagles with $500,000, despite the national team’s semi-final defeat to Morocco. Rabiu emphasized that the players’ courage, effort, and dedication deserve recognition regardless of the match’s outcome.

In a message to the team, Rabiu praised their fighting spirit and resilience:

“You fought with your hearts, gave your all, and showed true courage and determination on the pitch. Though it wasn’t meant to be this time, you have made every Nigerian proud.”

He noted that football, like life, does not always reward effort with victory, but the values displayed by the team—spirit, passion, and unity—go far beyond the final scoreline.

“Sometimes, even our best efforts don’t bring the outcome we hope for, but the spirit, passion, and unity you displayed are what truly matter. You left everything on the field, and that is worthy of celebration,” Rabiu said.

Rabiu reaffirmed his $500,000 pledge as a token of appreciation for the players’ remarkable journey, hard work, and dedication. He encouraged the team not to be discouraged by the defeat, describing it as a stepping stone for future continental and global success.

Earlier, Rabiu had pledged up to $1.5 million in rewards for the Super Eagles during the tournament: $50,000 for each goal scored in the semi-final, $500,000 for a semi-final win, $100,000 per goal in the final, and $1 million for winning the championship.

Despite the semi-final loss, Rabiu’s support underscores the value he places on the team’s efforts and the pride they bring to Nigerians nationwide.
