Andhra Pradesh Leaders Extend Warm Sankranthi Greetings

Amaravati, Jan 15, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy extended festive greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Makara Sankranthi, the harvest festival that marks the Sun’s transition into the Capricorn zodiac.

Governor’s Message
Governor Nazeer highlighted Sankranthi’s cultural and social significance, noting that the festival unites communities and celebrates thanksgiving. In an official release from Lok Bhavan, he said, “I convey my heartiest greetings to the people of Andhra Pradesh on the joyous occasion of Sankranthi. May it inspire love, affection, amity, and brotherhood among all sections of society.”

Chief Minister’s Greetings
Chief Minister Naidu wished happiness and prosperity for the people, especially farmers, emphasizing the importance of agriculture and rural development. In a post on X, he said, “On the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti, I extend my warm greetings to the people of the state. May villages flourish with abundant crops, and may our hardworking farmers receive due rewards.” He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development through appropriate schemes.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Wishes
YS Jagan conveyed his greetings to Telugu people worldwide, highlighting the festival’s key celebrations. He said, “Bhogi burns away evil, Sankranti welcomes happiness and prosperity, and Kanuma celebrates affection towards livestock. I wish health, joy, and prosperity to all families.”

Festival Celebrations
Makara Sankranthi is celebrated across Andhra Pradesh with age-old customs such as Bhogi bonfires, Rangoli, traditional sweets, kite flying, and family gatherings. It reflects gratitude to the Sun God, agrarian prosperity, and devotion to cultural traditions.

Thousands of devotees also thronged Tirumala to visit the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, creating a festive atmosphere with chants, prayers, and spiritual fervor, showcasing the deep-rooted devotion and community spirit associated with Sankranthi.

The celebrations across the state reinforced togetherness, gratitude, and cultural continuity, making it a joyous occasion for all.
