Oguntoyinbo Urges Constitutional Roles for Traditional Rulers to Tackle Insecurity

Gubernatorial aspirant on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform in Oyo State, Ambassador Oguntoyinbo, has called on the National and State Houses of Assembly to assign specific constitutional roles to traditional rulers in Nigeria.

Oguntoyinbo made the call while reacting to the inauguration of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, as Chairman of the Oyo State Traditional Council by Governor Seyi Makinde.

He stressed that traditional rulers, being closest to their subjects, are strategically positioned to address local insecurity. “Traditional rulers are in the best position to identify bandits and criminals in their communities,” he said, adding that giving them constitutional roles would allow them to function legally and effectively in the fight against crime.
