The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has issued a stern reminder to all employers in the state to submit their annual tax returns for the 2025 financial year by January 31, 2026.
In a statement, LIRS Executive Chairman Dr. Ayodele Subair emphasized that the directive aligns with the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025. Employers are required to fully declare all employee emoluments and ensure that all relevant taxes are duly remitted.
Dr. Subair warned that failure to comply will attract statutory penalties, stressing that tax filing is mandatory, not optional. He noted that all submissions must be made electronically via the LIRS eTax platform, as manual filings are no longer accepted.
Employers were advised to file early, confirm the accuracy of employees’ Tax Identification Numbers (TINs), and seek guidance through official LIRS channels if needed.
