Imams Hold National Prayer in Kano Seeking Divine Intervention Against Insecurity

The Association of Nigerian Imams has organized a national congregational prayer in Kano to seek divine intervention in response to the escalating insecurity across Nigeria.

The special event, which took place at the Sheikh Ahmadu Tijjani Mosque, was attended by religious leaders and numerous worshippers from across the state. The Jama’atul Imams led the gathering in reciting verses from the Qur’an, calling upon Allah for guidance and a solution to the nation’s security crisis.

In his address, the National President of the Association, Sheikh Muhammad Nasir Adam, stressed that the growing security challenges in the country require collective reflection and a spiritual renewal in addressing the situation.

“We are gathered here today due to the decision of our association,” Sheikh Adam stated. “In light of Nigeria’s current security predicament, we have resolved to recite the entire Qur’an and seek Allah’s intervention on behalf of the nation.”

The Imam also emphasized that their prayers were not only directed at addressing internal threats, such as insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping, but also aimed at protecting Nigeria from external forces that may be seeking to destabilize the country.

“Nigeria is facing numerous security challenges, from Boko Haram to bandits, kidnappers, and emerging terrorist groups,” he said. “We believe that prayer remains our strongest weapon in combating these threats.”

Sheikh Adam described Nigeria as a nation richly blessed with resources and a resilient population. He called on citizens to remain humble, united in prayer, and committed to building a future grounded in peace, justice, and prosperity.

“We must not lose hope,” he continued. “We believe that prayer, alongside our collective resolve, is the key to overcoming adversity and establishing peace.”

The Association of Nigerian Imams invited people of all faiths to join in this effort, announcing plans to hold similar prayers and fasting sessions across all 36 states of Nigeria. Additionally, the association called upon traditional rulers and civil society groups to join the fight against terrorism and banditry, which have ravaged parts of the country.

“We are urging all imams and Nigerians to continue praying for lasting peace and security in our beloved country,” added Sheikh Adam.
