Burial arrangements for the late gospel singer Omije Ojumi, also known as Bunmi Akinnaanu, have been cancelled due to unresolved family issues, shocking fans and colleagues in the gospel music community.

The announcement was made by Lanre Alewilese on behalf of the burial planning committee via Instagram. Alewilese explained that ongoing disputes within the singer’s family made it impossible to proceed with the previously scheduled ceremonies.

“This is to inform you that all burial plans of our late sister and colleague, Bunmi Akinnaanu, have been cancelled over issues arising within her family. We’re deeply sorry for the inconveniences,” Alewilese stated.

The burial had initially been set for Wednesday, January 20, 2026, but no new date has been announced. Details of the family crisis remain private, with updates expected once the issues are resolved.

The sudden cancellation has left fans, fellow musicians, and the gospel music community in shock, as preparations were already underway for the final rites.
