Former Vice President and presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of a mother and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi, Kano State, describing the incident as senseless violence against innocent Nigerians.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, when the housewife’s nephew, Umar Auwalu, allegedly led a syndicate to the family’s residence, where the victims were murdered.
In a statement released on Sunday, Atiku expressed deep sorrow over the killings and extended his condolences to the bereaved family and the affected community.
He questioned the effectiveness of recent security directives issued to law enforcement agencies, wondering whether they were being genuinely implemented or merely amounted to political rhetoric.
“I am heartbroken by the gruesome killing of a mother and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi, Kano,” Atiku said. “This senseless violence against innocent Nigerians is unacceptable. My thoughts and prayers are with the grieving family and community.”
The former Vice President stressed that security agencies have a responsibility to act decisively, apprehend the perpetrators swiftly, and ensure the protection of lives and property across the country.
“It is either the so-called marching orders to the security agencies are not being actioned, or they are merely political talk,” he added. “Security agencies must bring the perpetrators to justice and take decisive action to protect every Nigerian from such brutality.”
Atiku also recalled his longstanding calls for improved national security, warning that the continued cycle of violence against civilians poses a serious threat to social stability.
He emphasized that ending the culture of violence and guaranteeing the safety of all Nigerians must remain a top national priority, urging authorities to take immediate and concrete steps to prevent further tragedies.
