London Spirit have announced a raft of high-profile signings for the 2026 Hundred season, including England internationals Liam Livingstone, Jamie Overton, and Charlie Dean. The moves are part of a broader strategy to bolster both the men’s and women’s squads ahead of the eagerly anticipated summer tournament.
The franchise, based at Lord’s, has made eight signings in total, combining international talent with experienced domestic players. Australia’s Adam Zampa, a world-class leg-spinner, and South Africa’s explosive batter Dewald Brevis join the men’s team, while the women’s squad welcomes Grace Harris, Mahika Gaur, and Marizanne Kapp to reinforce their lineup.
England Trio Among Key Signings
- Liam Livingstone moves from Birmingham Phoenix, bringing a wealth of experience and power-hitting ability. The 2021 Men’s Player of the Tournament will be central to Spirit’s batting plans.
- Jamie Overton, the franchise’s leading wicket-taker in 2025, aims to continue his impressive form in the bowling department.
- Charlie Dean returns to the women’s squad, reuniting with Grace Harris, who remains at the franchise after previous successful campaigns.
Ex-England head coach Jon Lewis, who will lead the women’s team, expressed his excitement at assembling such a strong roster:
“It is brilliant to be able to call upon players of such calibre in the women’s game. I am delighted London Spirit fans will see the return of two favourites in Charlie and Grace, and I know Mahika and Marizanne will provide real skill and experience to our bowling attack.”
International Experience Adds Depth
The London Spirit women’s squad benefits from the addition of South African legend Marizanne Kapp, who joins from Oval Invincibles. Kapp, 36, was player of the match in the 2022 final and ranks fourth in the all-time Hundred wickets list with 46 scalps.
Australian all-rounder Mahika Gaur also strengthens the bowling attack, providing a potent mix of pace, skill, and experience.
On the men’s side, Adam Zampa brings a wealth of T20 expertise, having taken 30 wickets in The Hundred at an astonishing average of 13.13, the lowest among all bowlers in the competition. Meanwhile, Dewald Brevis, 22, adds raw firepower; he holds the highest individual T20 score in South Africa, smashing 161 from just 57 balls in the 2022 CSA T20 Challenge. He will make his debut in The Hundred this season.
New Rules for 2026 Hundred: Direct Signings
This season introduces a key change in the player retention system. All Hundred teams are now allowed to directly sign or retain four players before the March auction. This rule change has enabled London Spirit to secure top talents like Livingstone, Overton, Dean, and Brevis ahead of the full auction.
Building on Previous Success
While London Spirit’s women won the Hundred title in 2024, the men’s team is still chasing their first trophy. These new signings signal the franchise’s determination to challenge at the top in both competitions, blending youth, international experience, and proven domestic performers.
- Livingstone and Overton aim to fire the men’s team toward a first title.
- Dean, Harris, and Kapp bolster a women’s side aiming to defend or reclaim the championship.
The 2026 Hundred season promises to be a thrilling campaign for London Spirit, with a squad packed with international stars and match-winners across both teams. Fans can expect a summer of high-intensity cricket at Lord’s and other venues, as Spirit look to compete for glory on both fronts.
