UBA Foundation Expands Impact, Supports Vulnerable Communities Across Africa

UBA Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has distributed essential items and cash gifts worth millions of naira and dollars to vulnerable communities across Nigeria and 19 other African countries.

As part of its Food Bank and Giving Back initiative, the foundation reached over 100,000 individuals between November 2025 and January 2026, providing sustenance to school students, orphanages, IDP camps, and economically disadvantaged communities.

In Nigeria, beneficiaries included orphanages and IDP camps across all regions, such as Daughter of Mercy Mother of Mary Orphanage Home (Abia), Trinitarian Foundation (Ebonyi), Destitute Home Okobaba (Lagos), Oyiza Orphanage (Oyo), Itsoghena Orphanage (Edo), and IDP camps in Niger and Borno, among others.

Across Africa, support reached countries including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Congo DRC, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, positively affecting hundreds of thousands of people.

Bola Atta, Managing Director of UBA Foundation, visited several Nigerian orphanages and distributed food and school materials, stressing the foundation’s commitment to year-round support:

“At UBA Foundation, true development begins with compassion and action. Through our initiatives, we provide nourishment, essential support, and restore hope, creating pathways for children and families to learn, grow, and thrive. This is our commitment to Africa: to show up consistently, act responsibly, and leave no community behind.”

The foundation’s longstanding programs—including National Essay Competition, Read Africa Project, Tree Planting for Sustainability, Health Outreaches, Each1 Teach1, Kindness Connect, and Food Bank—continue to empower the underprivileged, promote education, and support poverty alleviation across the continent.
