
Two middle-aged men have died following a violent machete clash in Akpap-Okoyong community, Odukpani LGA, Cross River State, SaharaReporters reports.
The deadly confrontation reportedly began over a missing bunch of plantain from a local farm. Eyewitness Ettenma explained that the dispute escalated when Effiong accused Edet of taking the plantain. The argument quickly turned physical, with both men attacking each other with machetes.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby health centre, but the facility lacked the necessary equipment and resources to treat their severe injuries, resulting in their deaths.
The incident has left the Akpap-Okoyong community in mourning, as residents express concern over the rising trend of violent disputes over minor issues.
The Cross River State Police Command confirmed the attack through spokesperson Irene Akata, noting that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of the fight and why no timely intervention occurred. Further updates will be provided once the investigation concludes.
