Police Arrest Suspect Over Death of Singer Destiny Boy

The Ogun State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of 22-year-old singer Adesina Afeez, popularly known as Destiny Boy, and transferred the case to the Homicide Section for further investigation.

Police confirmed that one suspect is currently in custody as the investigation continues. An associate of the late singer also revealed that Destiny Boy had been struggling with a health issue prior to his death.

In a statement obtained by PUNCH Online, the Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said:

“The Ogun State Police Command has commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for detailed investigation.”

News of Destiny Boy’s death broke on Sunday after videos circulated online showing his body being taken to a mortuary, sparking grief and speculation among fans.

An associate of the singer stated:

“Destiny was nursing a health issue in his body before he died. We tried for him, but he didn’t make it.”

Destiny Boy, born Afeez Adeshina, rose to fame in 2019 with a Fuji-style cover of Davido’s hit “If.” He later released songs including Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, and Lowkey. He welcomed his first child with his partner, Iremide, in November 2024.

Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and updates will be provided as the case develops.
