Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, has condemned Nigerian security agencies for failing to apprehend the armed gang that kidnapped, stripped, and brutalized Nollywood actor Don Pedro, also known as Dr. Pedro Obaseki, in Benin City, Edo State.
Falana, speaking on Arise News TV, described the December 28, 2025, incident as a violent attack on the actor’s life and dignity. The gang, armed and intimidating, paraded Don Pedro before taking him to the Oba of Benin, who instructed his transfer to a police station. Shockingly, the actor was treated as a suspect and detained for five hours, while his assailants remained free.
Months later, none of the perpetrators have been arrested, raising concerns over law enforcement failures and the erosion of citizens’ constitutional rights. Falana warned that impunity in such cases could embolden mob violence and lawlessness, calling for immediate accountability.
