Actor Don Pedro Obaseki Takes Legal Action Over Abduction, Assault in Edo, Engages Femi Falana

Nollywood actor Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki has announced plans to seek justice over his abduction, violent assault, and public humiliation in Benin City, Edo State, on December 28, 2025.

Obaseki said the decision followed consultations with his family, elders, and legal advisers. He stressed that the move is not politically motivated but aimed at accountability, deterrence, and protecting human dignity.

In a brazen daylight attack, armed men seized Obaseki, beat him, stripped him naked, and paraded him publicly. The assault was recorded and live-streamed. Although the attackers claimed to act on instructions from the Oba of Benin, the Benin Traditional Council formally denied any involvement.

Obaseki has engaged renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, as lead counsel and intends to pursue both civil and criminal proceedings. He has also notified international human rights bodies to ensure transparency and proper oversight. Obaseki said the legal action seeks to protect citizens’ rights and uphold the rule of law, sending a clear message that no one can abuse authority or engage in public dehumanisation with impunity.
