Afrobeats sensation Oxlade has revealed that he abstains from smoking and hard drugs, crediting his lifestyle choices to his Christian upbringing and musical family background. The singer shared his insights during an interview with gospel artist Tim Godfrey.

The “Ku Lo Sa” hitmaker explained that his early involvement in church choirs shaped both his character and approach to music. He served as a choir coordinator across all age groups, from children’s church to youth and mass choirs, describing his foundation in gospel music as central to his values.

“I don’t smoke. I don’t take drugs. All my life I have been in the choir,” Oxlade said. “I come from a musically inclined family—my grandmother is a deaconess and a wonderful singer, my grandfather was a multi-instrumentalist, and my mother could dance and sing. I even have a pastor in the family. Gospel music has truly shaped who I am.”

He added that his faith continues to guide his career: “No matter how people view me, God’s blessings are evident. You can’t tour 40 cities with your debut album without God’s ordination. As long as He is directing my path, there’s nothing to worry about.”

Oxlade’s testimony highlights the influence of faith and family on his personal choices, serving as inspiration for young fans seeking to pursue success without compromising their values.
