The Oyo State House of Assembly has instructed its Committee on Ethics and Privileges to investigate claims of financial inducement leveled against the House Majority Leader, Sanjo Adedoyin.
The allegation was raised by fellow lawmaker Ibrahim Shittu, who represents Saki West under the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Adedoyin, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), represents Ogbomoso South.
During plenary on Tuesday, Speaker Adebowale Ogundoyin mandated that the committee complete the investigation within one week. The probe comes amid ongoing tensions between Shittu and his predominantly PDP colleagues, which previously included disputes over the approval of a loan for Governor Seyi Makinde.
Adedoyin denied the allegations, stating that he was falsely accused of soliciting and receiving bribes from the Chairman of Saki West Local Government to influence an investigation. He appealed to the Assembly to ensure proper action is taken.
Speaker Ogundoyin urged members to refrain from making unsubstantiated claims and emphasized the importance of a thorough and transparent review by the Ethics and Privileges Committee.
