Adamu Garba to Trump: Fighting BRICS Currency Is a Waste of Time

Adamu Garba, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s opposition to the proposed BRICS currency, calling it futile.

Garba’s statement follows Trump’s renewed threat to impose 100 percent tariffs on BRICS nations if they introduce a currency to rival the U.S. dollar.

On Thursday night, Trump reiterated his stance, posting on Truth Social:

“The idea that the BRICS countries are trying to move away from the Dollar, while we stand by and watch, is OVER.”

In response, Garba argued that such measures would only serve to further isolate the United States.

“President Trump’s tantrums against the BRICS currency are a waste of time. His planned tariffs for trading against the dollar will push the U.S. further into isolation.

“This is not the U.S. of the 1940s; this is 2025. The world has moved far beyond a unipolar society,” Garba posted on X.
