South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has been found dead in her Seoul residence, according to local police.
The 24-year-old was discovered in her home in the Seongsu-dong district on Sunday at approximately 4:55 PM (07:55 GMT) by a friend.
Authorities stated that there were no indications of foul play, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of her death.
Kim Sae-ron gained recognition as a child actress and was regarded as one of South Korea’s most promising talents.
Born in Seoul in 2000, she first gained prominence in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which led to her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.
She later starred in The Man from Nowhere, South Korea’s highest-grossing film of 2010, as well as the 2012 thriller The Neighbour, which earned her critical acclaim.
Her other notable works include the 2014 film A Girl at My Door and the 2016 television drama Mirror of the Witch.
In 2022, Kim withdrew from the public eye following a drunk driving incident, for which she was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023.
Her final role was in Netflix’s 2023 Korean drama Bloodhounds. However, according to Variety, much of her screen time was removed due to the controversy surrounding the incident.
