Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Recover Items in Gwoza Ambush

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have neutralised two Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during an ambush near Hudugum village in the Hambagda area along the Gwoza–Limankara road in Borno State.

According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development on X on Thursday, the operation took place on Wednesday under Operation Desert Sanity IV/Diligent Search by troops of the 192 Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Makama stated that the troops engaged the terrorists’ logistics elements around 6:30 p.m., resulting in the deaths of two insurgents, while others fled with gunshot wounds toward the Mandara Mountains.

Recovered items from the scene included three bicycles, mats, wrappers, blankets, solar panels, torchlights, clothing, condiments, and phone cases.

The operation was described as successful, with no casualties or equipment losses recorded on the troops’ side. The troops reportedly returned safely to base around 7:50 p.m., while further monitoring of the terrorists’ withdrawal routes was set to continue at first light.
