OSOGBO – Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that his administration will not allow the alleged seizure of state funds to derail the completion of ongoing infrastructure projects across the state. The Governor issued this declaration on Wednesday during an inspection tour of the Lagere flyover and other key projects in Ile-Ife.
Governor Adeleke stated that the opposition is deliberately withholding approximately N100 billion in state allocations in an attempt to stall his administration’s development agenda. He characterized this as a political move aimed at hindering progress but vowed to push forward regardless.
“We are elated by the rapid progress on our ambitious moves to modernize Ile-Ife, the cultural capital of the Yoruba people,” Adeleke said, addressing crowds at the project sites. “Our administration has chosen to break from the history of abandoned projects. We operate on the mantra that Osun money must serve the Osun people.”
The Governor emphasized that his administration’s focus on upgrading infrastructure in major towns like Ile-Ife, Ilesa, and Osogbo is driven by the need to accelerate economic development and position the state as a tourism hub.
In response to critics calling for faster project delivery, Governor Adeleke pointed out that his administration is less than three years old. He claimed that almost a year of that time has been consumed by efforts to counter what he described as financial blockades and destabilization plots by political opponents.
“Almost N100 billion of Osun fund is unjustly seized in a bid to stop the completion of the Ile-Ife flyover, Ilesa township dualisation, and other critical projects across the state,” he stated. “The opposition has unfortunately chosen to play politics with the urgent needs of our people.”
Concluding his assessment, the Governor issued a stern warning to contractors and project officials, demanding high standards and timely delivery. He affirmed that his administration would not condone substandard work or abandoned projects in any part of the state.
