
Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have destroyed a major bandits’ camp and recovered weapons during a clearance operation in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. The operation, conducted under the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, followed credible intelligence on bandit activities in Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages.
The raid, carried out on Friday, October 31, 2025, aimed to flush out criminal elements terrorizing communities in the area. During the advance, soldiers received updated intelligence at Kofar Ahmadu village indicating the presence of bandits around TY Farm in Tati. Acting promptly, the troops moved through Sabon Gida Tati and engaged the bandits, who eventually fled into the forest after encountering strong resistance.
Upon clearing the area, the troops discovered and destroyed a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. Items recovered included one Dane gun and other materials linked to criminal activity.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, commended the troops for their swift response, gallantry, and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Taraba State and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
The Nigerian Army stated that the operation is part of continuous efforts to rid Taraba State of bandits and terrorist elements, with additional clearance patrols ongoing in other identified flashpoints.
