Iwobi Confident Super Eagles Will Qualify for 2026 World Cup

Fulham star Alex Iwobi has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite a shaky start to their qualifying campaign, Eric Chelle’s side managed to reach the playoffs, finishing second in Group C behind South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

Nigeria is set to face the Gabonese Panthers in the playoff semi-final on Thursday, 13 November, in Rabat, Morocco.

Speaking to CNN, Iwobi said the team is determined to secure qualification.

“We’ve managed to rescue ourselves from the dead,” he said.
“We know we have the players and the abilities to compete against any other country in the world.”

He also highlighted the squad’s quality, mentioning recent African stars.

“We have last year’s African best player, Ademola Lookman, and the year before that, Victor Osimhen. It would be a shame if we don’t make it, but we have a lot of confidence. We just have to prove it to ourselves,” Iwobi added.
