Bengaluru, November 1, 2025: In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community and triggered widespread outrage, Bengaluru police have booked seven transgender women for allegedly assaulting and forcibly shaving the head of another transgender woman in Virat Nagar. The case, lodged on October 31, details a prolonged and violent attack, highlighting the vulnerability faced by members of the transgender community even within their own networks.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the 24-year-old victim had been residing with one of the accused for the past five months. She earned her livelihood by seeking alms and relied on community support. On October 29, she traveled to KR Puram for work and stayed overnight at another acquaintance’s residence, which apparently triggered the confrontation that followed.

The FIR alleges that the next day, four transgender women arrived in two autorickshaws, forcibly brought the victim back to Virat Nagar, and confronted her about staying away from the group. The complainant states that the assailants demanded she reside only with them, disallowing any independent living arrangements.

What followed, according to the FIR, was a brutal and prolonged assault. Two of the accused reportedly applied hair removal cream to the victim’s head and shaved it off, while the remaining assailants allegedly beat her with sticks, belts, and ropes. The abuse continued from the afternoon of October 30 until nearly 3 a.m., during which time the victim was also denied food and threatened with further violence should she resist or attempt to escape.

A video of the incident, showing the victim with her head forcibly shaved while being attacked inside a room, circulated on social media, prompting widespread condemnation from activists, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and the public at large.

Authorities have identified the accused as Prakruthi, Neelambari, Mouna, Nagma, Shreesh, Beauty, and Chaitra. Legal action has been initiated under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, both of which address assault, coercion, and violation of personal liberties.
