Ukrainian Children Among the Dead in Devastating Russian Missile Strikes as Conflict Intensifies

Kyiv, Ukraine – November 2, 2025 – Deadly Russian missile and drone strikes across multiple regions of Ukraine have claimed the lives of at least nine civilians, including two young children, as the Russian invasion continues to target both frontline areas and major civilian infrastructure.

Ukrainian officials report a series of devastating assaults over the weekend, including a lethal air strike in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where a fire sparked by Russian missiles killed four people, among them two children aged 11 and 14, after a local shop went up in flames.

Widespread Destruction from Odesa to Zaporizhzhia

Russia’s continued aerial attacks have left a trail of destruction across southern and eastern Ukraine:

  • In Odesa, Russian air forces bombed a convoy of trucks and civilian vehicles, killing two and injuring three others.
  • In the Kherson oblast, a region already battered by months of conflict, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed that one person died and two were injured as drone strikes and artillery fire targeted over 20 villages.
  • Mykolaiv suffered a deadly hit as a ballistic missile – believed to be an Iskander-M with a cluster warhead – struck a suburban area, killing a 20-year-old man and injuring 19 others, including two children.
  • In Zaporizhzhia, on the front lines of the conflict, Governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed one death and three injuries after Russian shelling targeted 18 settlements. Tens of thousands of residents have been left without power as a result.

The state energy operator Ukrenergo has imposed rolling blackouts nationwide, citing widespread infrastructure damage from what they called “massive missile and drone strikes” targeting energy facilities.

Ukraine Strikes Back: Fuel Pipeline Hit Near Moscow

Responding to the Russian attacks, Ukrainian forces launched counterstrikes targeting Russian critical infrastructure. Ukraine’s military intelligence revealed that it destroyed three fuel pipelines linked to the Koltsevoy pipeline in the Moscow region, which spans 400km and supplies essential gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel across Russia. The strikes near the Ramensky district were described as a “serious blow” to Moscow’s military logistics, though Russia has not officially responded.

Additional Ukrainian drone strikes were reported in the Russian coastal city of Tuapse, where a tanker and oil terminal pier were allegedly damaged.

Intense Battle for Control of Pokrovsk

The fighting has also intensified around Pokrovsk, a strategic city in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region. While Russia claims to have neutralized Ukrainian special forces during a helicopter landing in the area, Kyiv has denied the reports, rejecting claims that its troops are surrounded.

Cyber Warfare Escalates

In addition to physical conflict, cybersecurity has become another battleground. Russian media reported that pro-Russian hackers breached the databases of six major Ukrainian insurance companies, stealing sensitive data belonging to senior Ukrainian political figures, military personnel, and millions of citizens. Ukrainian authorities have yet to confirm the breach.
