Labour Party Merges Local Structures into YPP in Kaduna

The Labour Party (LP) in Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas of Kaduna State has officially merged its local structures into the Young Progressives Party (YPP).

The event, held on Sunday in Chikun, saw all executive members of the LP, from ward to local government level, resign their membership and join the YPP.

Welcoming the decampees, YPP National Organizing Secretary Hon. Williams Moses and Kaduna State Chairman Mall. Mikailu Abubakar praised the move, describing it as a renewed moment of hope for residents of Chikun, Kajuru, and the entire state.

Moses noted that the decision reflects the decampees’ desire to serve their constituents more effectively through a credible platform, adding that the YPP offers a viable alternative focused on unity, service, and accountability.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Chikun LP Chairman Hon. Yerima Ahmed explained that the move was a personal decision motivated by the YPP’s values rather than internal party disputes.

“Chikun is the centre of politics in Kaduna State. We joined the YPP because it represents a fresh start for both the old and young, and it embodies equity, unity, and progress,” Ahmed said.

The LP executives in Chikun and Kajuru expressed a shared conviction in the YPP’s vision and commitment to genuine development and good governance.
