President Droupadi Murmu Condoles Victims of Ranga Reddy Bus-Truck Accident

President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep grief over the tragic bus accident in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, that claimed multiple lives and left several injured. Describing the incident as “unfortunate,” she extended her heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

“The loss of many lives in a bus accident in Ranga Reddy district in Telangana is deeply unfortunate. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured passengers,” a post on President Murmu’s official social media account stated.

Details of the Accident

The accident occurred on Monday morning near Khanapur Gate, under the jurisdiction of Chevella police station. According to officials, a TGSRTC bus collided head-on with a tipper truck traveling from the wrong direction. The collision resulted in the deaths of 19 people, including both drivers, and left 20 others injured.

Chevella police confirmed that a total of 60 to 70 passengers were on board the bus at the time of the crash. The truck involved in the accident was reportedly carrying construction chips. Authorities said the identification of bodies is underway, and postmortems have been conducted for several victims.

Official Response

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty provided details at the scene, stating, “The lorry carrying construction chips collided with the bus. Both drivers have died, and identification of the bodies is in progress. Injured passengers are being treated at various hospitals. Inquests for most bodies have been completed, and postmortems have begun.”

Following the accident, RTC officials were instructed to rush to the site immediately to assist the injured and manage the situation. The exact cause of the accident is being investigated, though initial reports indicate a head-on collision due to the tipper traveling in the wrong direction.

The tragic incident has prompted widespread condolences across Telangana and the nation, highlighting the urgent need for road safety measures on busy routes. President Murmu’s message reflects the nation’s shared sorrow and concern for the victims and their families.
