The Tinubu Media Force (TMF) has issued a robust defense of Nigeria’s sovereignty and the progress made under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging the international community to support the nation’s reforms rather than promote misleading narratives.
In a statement released in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Gbenga Abiola, positioned Nigeria as Africa’s indispensable anchor, citing its vast population, economic influence, and ongoing “national rebirth” under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Highlighting Security and Economic Gains
Abiola pointed to concrete data to underscore the administration’s efforts, stating that in the last two years, security forces have:
- Neutralized over 6,260 terrorists.
- Arrested more than 14,000 suspects.
- Rescued over 5,300 kidnapped victims.
He further highlighted a significant increase in the defense budget from ₦1.25 trillion in 2023 to ₦4.91 trillion in 2025, alongside the tripling of annual police recruitment to 30,000 officers. These measures, he asserted, are leading to visible security improvements across several regions, including the North West and the Federal Capital Territory.
Dismissing “Divisive” Claims and Issuing a Stark Warning
The statement served as a direct rebuttal to recent comments by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria. Abiola dismissed these claims as “false and divisive,” maintaining that violent incidents are isolated criminal acts, not state-sanctioned religious persecution.
He issued a stark warning about the consequences of destabilizing Nigeria, describing the nation as the continent’s primary political, economic, and spiritual pillar. “If that pillar is shaken, the whole continent will feel it,” he stated, adding that the economic systems of neighboring countries would be overwhelmed by a fraction of Nigeria’s population.
Citing the aftermath of Western interventions in Libya and Iraq, Abiola cautioned that similar tactics in Nigeria would have “catastrophic global consequences,” severely damaging the world economy, including that of the United States.
A Call for Partnership and African Unity
Abiola urged the U.S. to redirect its energy toward strengthening partnerships with Nigeria, noting the significant contributions of Nigerians to the American healthcare, technology, and education sectors.
The TMF also called on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU) to unite in defending not only Nigeria but the collective independence and integrity of African nations against misinformation and external interference.
Concluding the statement, Abiola reaffirmed that Nigeria is a sovereign nation deserving of respect and fair engagement. “What Nigeria needs is collaboration, not confrontation; support, not suspicion,” he said. “The world must stand with Nigeria, not against her.”
