Bunnie Xo is giving fans a heartfelt update on her and Jelly Roll’s journey to expand their family. The 45-year-old singer and podcast host shared details on the latest episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast, revealing that she and her husband are still trying to have a baby.
“It is tough, but at the same time it’s like, you just put it in God’s hands,” Bunnie told guest Maury Povich on the Nov. 2 episode. “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. And if not, we can always adopt. I’m totally open to adoption too, and so is my husband.”
Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll’s Family Journey
Bunnie Xo, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, and Jelly Roll—born Jason DeFord—tied the knot in 2016. Bunnie is also stepmom to Jelly Roll’s two children, daughter Bailee Ann and son Noah Buddy.
Over the years, the couple has been candid about the challenges of trying to grow their family, including in vitro fertilization (IVF). Earlier this year, Bunnie shared a milestone in their IVF journey, calling it a “huge win” despite not being pregnant yet.
“When you just got the call you’ve been waiting on for 5 months since this IVF journey started, all the tears, the hopelessness & the struggle, God finally said, ‘Here,’” she wrote in an emotional Instagram post in June 2025.
She later clarified, “This is not a pregnancy announcement — we won’t announce that. This is just a huge win for us.”
The Reality of IVF and Parenthood
Bunnie also addressed why she’s been less visible publicly with her husband in recent months. She revealed the intense demands of IVF treatments:
“I’m literally going through IVF treatments right now — the hormones, the shots, all that,” she said. “I’m going through all of the emotions, the rollercoaster, [and] the worry, just so that I can have a little piece of my husband and me — just a little piece wrapped in skin — to just add to the other two beautiful children that we have together.”
She noted that Jelly Roll has been working extensively, which meant she has had to manage much of the treatment process herself:
“Somebody said the other day, ‘They used to always be together. Now you never see them together.’ I’m like, do you guys not know for the past six months I’ve been trying to make a baby? Like, my husband has to work to f—— bring home the bacon.”
Looking Ahead
Despite the challenges, Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll remain hopeful about expanding their family, emphasizing faith, patience, and the possibility of adoption. Their openness provides a relatable perspective for many couples navigating fertility struggles.
