A former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mike Ejiofor, has called on the Federal Government to take seriously the recent military threat issued by U.S. President Donald Trump over alleged killings of Christians in Nigeria.
Ejiofor made the appeal on Tuesday during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, where he urged authorities to adopt diplomatic measures to address the situation and avert any potential escalation.
“I think the Federal Government should take Donald Trump seriously. I’m calling on the Nigerian government to explore all diplomatic channels,” he said.
President Trump had, last week, via a post on his Truth Social platform, accused Nigeria of permitting the mass killing of Christians and threatened possible military action.
He also announced that Nigeria had been redesignated as a ‘Country of Particular Concern (CPC)’ over alleged religious persecution — a decision that has sparked widespread reactions from both Nigerian and international observers.
