Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the interim forfeiture of Proxy Lagos Night Club, owned by Lagos socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, over alleged drug-related offences. The club is located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The order followed an ex parte motion filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), represented by Barrister Buhari Abdullahi, under case number FHC/L/MISC/1161/2025. The respondents in the case are Pretty Mike and Joachim Hillary.
Barrister Abdullahi told the court that the club was being used to store and distribute illegal substances, including 169 cylinders (384.662 kilograms) of Nitrous Oxide (commonly called Laughing Gas) and 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa. The motion sought interim forfeiture of the property and suspension of all club activities pending the conclusion of the NDLEA’s investigation.
The lawyer cited several legal provisions in support of the application, including Sections 3, 31, 32, 33, 34, and 36 of the NDLEA Act, Section 44(2)(k) of the Constitution of Nigeria, and relevant Federal High Court civil procedure rules.
According to the NDLEA, intelligence received in October 2025 indicated that the club was preparing to host a large-scale drug party. Surveillance confirmed that illegal substances were being stored at the venue. On October 26, 2025, NDLEA operatives raided the club, recovered the drugs, and arrested over 200 individuals, including Pretty Mike and his associate.
The affidavit supporting the motion, deposed by Deputy Commander of Narcotics Nasiru Garba Bungudu, stated that Pretty Mike, as the club owner, was aware of the drug activities, while the second respondent acted as a dealer within the premises. The NDLEA argued that the property, as an instrumentality of drug offences, is liable for forfeiture to the Federal Government.
Justice Kakaki, after reviewing the motion and supporting affidavit, granted the interim forfeiture as prayed and adjourned the matter to January 28, 2026, for a report on the ongoing investigation.
