House of Representatives Resumes Plenary Wednesday After Backtracking on Adjournment

The House of Representatives has reversed its earlier decision to adjourn plenary for a week, following positive developments in discussions with the Executive over payments to local contractors and other budget matters.

Spokesperson Akintunde Rotimi explained in a statement that the House will now reconvene on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, instead of the previously scheduled Tuesday next week. The initial adjournment followed a motion by the Minority Leader calling for immediate payment to contractors and the commencement of the 2025 capital budget.

Rotimi said the decision to resume earlier came after engagements and interventions across various levels of government, particularly regarding contractors’ concerns and delays in fund releases under the 2024/2025 budget.

The Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, communicated the early resumption to lawmakers via an internal memorandum on Tuesday evening.

The statement added that the Wednesday plenary will allow the House leadership to brief members on progress made in addressing these issues and other matters of national importance. Lawmakers have been urged to make necessary arrangements to attend.
