
The family of Mr. Wisdom Okorie Akobundu, a native of Ozuitem in Bende LGA, Abia State, is calling for justice following his alleged death from torture while in police custody at the Bende Police Division.
The plea was made by Mr. Festus Okorie during a condolence visit from Chimaobi Anyaso, Founder of the Chima Anyaso Foundation. The family emphasized that their son’s death should not be ignored and urged authorities to act to prevent similar tragedies.
Describing their family as one known for integrity, Festus Okorie expressed profound grief over the loss of Wisdom Akobundu, thanking Anyaso for his support during this difficult time.
Earlier, Chimaobi Anyaso said he was deeply disturbed by reports on social media about the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death. According to him, Akobundu had been invited to the police station for questioning over undisclosed allegations and was allegedly subjected to severe torture that led to his death.
Anyaso visited the family alongside Eze Patrick Ude, a traditional ruler in Bende, and other community leaders, describing the incident as heartbreaking and calling for justice to be served.
