Role Model opens up about recruiting Charli XCX as his latest “Sally” on SNL and the funny text she sent afterward.
Tucker Pillsbury, professionally known as Role Model, made headlines as PEOPLE’s first-ever Sexiest Man Alive centerfold this week and revealed an unforgettable behind-the-scenes moment from his Saturday Night Live appearance on October 11.
During the episode, 33-year-old Charli XCX joined Role Model onstage to dance during the bridge of his viral hit “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out.” The singer, 28, shared exclusively with PEOPLE that Charli sent him a humorous text afterward, saying: “You are now forever in debt to me and you are in my pocket.” Role Model laughed, adding, “Sometimes, that is what you have to do to get a Sally.”
The Celebrity “Sally” Tradition
Charli XCX is part of Role Model’s ongoing “Sally” segment, which has featured celebrities and fans alike, including Bowen Yang, Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Hilary Duff, and more. Role Model explained that selecting a Sally varies:
- Some ask to participate willingly.
- Some, like Charli, require a little convincing.
- Some are surprises on the day of the performance.
The playful moment with Charli also mended their previously cheeky “Enemies List,” a running tally of playful rivalries Role Model keeps in his phone. He described the SNL performance as a “beautiful moment” and a tour highlight.
Role Model on Tour and His Network of Sallys
Currently touring Europe, Role Model maintains a ready lineup of Sallys for support both onstage and in navigating life in the spotlight. He told PEOPLE: “I have a very strong list of people that I could text or call and be like, ‘Hey, how do you do this? How do you deal with this?’ It’s nice to know that I have a whole lineup of Sallys there for my support if I need them.”
The “Look at That Woman” singer’s playful approach to celebrity cameos has made his No Place Like Tour a must-watch event, combining live performances, fan engagement, and viral moments like the SNL Sally segment.
