Air India to Resume Delhi-Tel Aviv Direct Flights from January 2026

The Israel Ministry of Tourism announced on Wednesday that Air India’s direct flight service between New Delhi and Tel Aviv will resume on January 1, 2026, restoring a vital air link between the two countries. The move is expected to significantly boost tourism and economic exchange, facilitating smoother travel for business and leisure travelers alike.

The restored route will operate five weekly flights, from Sunday to Thursday, using Air India’s advanced Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Flight schedules have been designed to ensure convenient connections for onward travel: the flight departing from Tel Aviv will leave at 11:40 AM and arrive in Delhi at 8:50 PM, while the flight from Delhi will depart at 7:00 AM and arrive in Tel Aviv at 9:55 AM.

In addition to Air India’s relaunch, Israeli carrier Arkia Airlines has expressed strong interest in reopening its direct route to India. Arkia recently held a high-level meeting with the Indian Ambassador, highlighting the growing potential for strengthened air connectivity between India and Israel. The airline is evaluating the use of its long-range Airbus A321neo LR jets to operate flights to Indian destinations including Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Goa.

Galit Hoffman, Consul for Tourism Affairs, Israel Ministry of Tourism, India, described the resumption of Air India flights as a “genuine game-changer” and a significant step to promote tourism from India. “This direct link is our biggest priority to fuel tourism from India, making it easier than ever for Indian travellers to experience the rich culture, history, and vibrant landscapes of Israel. The added interest from Arkia only confirms the market’s dynamism,” Hoffman said.

The relaunch is expected to strengthen ties between the two countries, facilitating easier travel for both leisure tourists and business visitors. With the restoration of direct flights, travelers from India will have a more convenient option to explore Israel’s historical sites, cultural experiences, and natural landscapes, while Israelis will find it easier to connect with India’s diverse cities and tourism hubs.

The Air India resumption marks a significant milestone in India-Israel aviation cooperation, following a period during which direct flights were paused, creating pent-up demand among travelers from both countries. With both Air India and potentially Arkia entering the market, the connectivity revival is likely to enhance tourism, cultural exchange, and bilateral economic interactions.

The enhanced air links are also expected to stimulate related sectors such as hospitality, travel agencies, and tour operators, supporting broader economic engagement between India and Israel. Travelers can now look forward to convenient weekly options, more efficient schedules, and greater access to destinations across both nations.

Overall, the resumption of direct flights underscores the growing importance of India-Israel ties, reflecting mutual interest in strengthening tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges through reliable and efficient air connectivity.
