Victor Osimhen Hat-Trick Seals Galatasaray Victory Over Ajax in Champions League Clash

Victor Osimhen delivered a stunning performance, scoring a hat-trick as Galatasaray defeated Ajax in the Champions League, marking the Dutch side’s fourth consecutive loss in the group stage.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 59th minute with a powerful header and added two more from the penalty spot, bringing his total to six Champions League goals this season.

With this impressive treble, Osimhen surpassed former Nigerian star Obafemi Martins, reaching 25 career goals in European competitions—making him Nigeria’s top scorer in European football history.

At 26 years old, Osimhen now leads the Champions League top scorers list for the current league phase, edging ahead of elite forwards like Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappé.

Ajax Struggle as Defensive Frailties Continue

Despite a solid first-half effort from Ajax goalkeeper Remko Pasveer, who made key saves against Osimhen, the Dutch side crumbled after the break. Osimhen headed in Leroy Sané’s cross before converting two well-taken penalties, both awarded for handball after VAR reviews.

Ajax remain bottom of their Champions League group, having lost all four matches by a combined score of 14-1—a worrying trend for fans of the former European champions.

Galatasaray Eye Knockout Stage

Galatasaray’s win moves them up to ninth in the Champions League standings, putting them within reach of the top eight, which guarantees a spot in the knockout stage.
