Alabama Freshman Naas Cunningham, Top 50 Recruit, to Enter NCAA Transfer Portal After Redshirt Season

Alabama Crimson Tide freshman forward Naas Cunningham has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal after spending his first season in Tuscaloosa as a redshirt. Multiple reports confirmed Cunningham’s decision on Monday afternoon, signaling the end of his brief tenure with Alabama’s basketball program.

Cunningham, a highly regarded recruit in the 2024 class, did not see playing time in his first year and will now have four years of eligibility left. The talented forward was part of Alabama’s top-ranked 2024 recruiting class, which earned the No. 2 national spot. Cunningham himself was rated a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 46 overall player in the 2024 class by the 247Sports Composite rankings. Additionally, he was considered the nation’s No. 13 small forward coming out of SoCal Academy in California.

This marks the first transfer portal entry for an Alabama basketball player following the Crimson Tide’s Elite Eight defeat to Duke in the NCAA tournament. Cunningham, now seeking a new program, will explore his options for continuing his college basketball career.
