LaLiga President Javier Tebas has strongly criticized Real Madrid after the European champions chose not to attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony. Reports from JOINTEARN indicate that Real Madrid boycotted the prestigious event held in Paris due to their star player, Vinicius Jr., not receiving the award.
Tebas labeled this decision as “classless” and a display of a lack of elegance on the part of Los Blancos. He expressed his disappointment in comments made to the French outlet L’Equipe, stating, “I’m a Madrid fan. The important values of this club are to be a gentleman and to shake hands when you lose.”
According to Tebas, Real Madrid has lost sight of these fundamental principles, noting that they should have attended the ceremony rather than questioning the integrity of the France Football system, which operates transparently with input from 100 voting journalists. He went on to assert that Real Madrid’s sense of victimhood is exaggerated and unnecessary. “I don’t know where they’re going,” he remarked, also mentioning that this lack of elegance is not just confined to the international stage but is something they also experience within Spain.
