Barcelona Prospect Tomas Marques Rejects Premier League Interest to Sign Contract Renewal with €20m Release Clause

Tomas Marques Signs New Barcelona Deal, Rejects Premier League Offers

Barcelona’s young talent, Tomas Marques, has officially renewed his contract with the club until the summer of 2028. The 18-year-old, who has impressed this season with Barcelona’s Juvenil A team, will also be promoted to Barça Atletic as part of the new deal.

Premier League Interest Rejected by Marques

Despite attracting interest from several top Premier League clubs, the talented midfielder chose to remain at Barcelona, committing his future to the Catalan giants. According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Marques’ decision to stay reflects his desire to continue his development at the club, turning down lucrative opportunities in England’s top flight.

As part of his new contract, Marques will have a release clause set at €20 million, which will rise to €25 million if he makes five appearances for the first team. This clause indicates Barcelona’s strong confidence in the midfielder’s potential, ensuring his future at the club while also protecting his value.

A Rising Star with a Bright Future at Barcelona

Marques, who joined Barcelona in 2015 from CE Europa, initially made his mark as an attacking midfielder with exceptional vision and long-range shooting abilities. However, his progress was delayed by injuries during his cadet years, and a loan spell at CF Damm in 2022 was interrupted by more fitness struggles.

Since returning to Barcelona in late 2023, Marques has flourished as a defensive midfielder. Now standing out as a technically gifted and physically strong No. 6, he is regarded for his excellent distribution and defensive contributions, drawing comparisons to club legend Sergio Busquets.

Barcelona’s decision to renew his contract through 2028 is a testament to the club’s belief in Marques’ potential and their commitment to developing one of the brightest prospects in their youth ranks.
