Carlos Santana has postponed two Texas concerts on his 2025 Oneness Tour after collapsing during a soundcheck in San Antonio and later testing positive for COVID-19. The 77-year-old guitar legend was scheduled to perform at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio on April 22, but was rushed to a local hospital after experiencing symptoms of dehydration.
In a statement issued by Santana’s manager, Michael Vrionis, the incident was described as precautionary. “Mr. Santana was at the venue preparing for the show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration,” Vrionis said. “He is doing well and is looking forward to returning to San Antonio and continuing his U.S. tour.”
Originally, Santana was still expected to play his April 23 show at the Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, TX, but an update issued later in the day confirmed that performance was also postponed after Santana tested positive for COVID-19.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to also postpone this evening’s show in Sugar Land,” Vrionis said. “Carlos experienced dehydration yesterday and has since tested positive for COVID. I am happy to report that Carlos is doing well and will be back on tour this Friday in Thackerville, Oklahoma.”
Ticketholders for both postponed shows are encouraged to hold on to their tickets, as new dates will be announced soon.
The next scheduled performances on Santana’s Oneness Tour 2025 include:
-
April 25 – Lucas Oil Live at WinStar, Thackerville, OK
-
April 26 – River Spirit Casino Resort, Tulsa, OK
-
April 29 – Nashville, TN
Following the U.S. leg, Santana is set to launch a European summer tour starting in May.
This is not the first health-related delay in Santana’s touring history. In 2022, he canceled six shows after collapsing on stage in Detroit due to heat exhaustion, and in 2021, he postponed performances following an unscheduled heart procedure.
Despite these setbacks, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer remains committed to connecting with fans on the road.
