CBN Issues Warning About Fraudulent Claims Regarding Contracts and Project Funding

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a public warning regarding fraudulent activities by individuals falsely claiming to have received award letters for contracts related to construction projects and special financial interventions on behalf of the Bank.

In a statement released by Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, the Acting Director of Corporate Communications, the CBN made it clear that these letters circulating are completely fraudulent. The Bank emphasized that the individuals involved in distributing these false documents are solely motivated by fraudulent intentions, aiming to deceive unsuspecting members of the public. As such, the CBN advised the public to disregard any such claims, as they are not legitimate.

The statement further highlighted that, under the current management, the Bank has ceased engaging in direct development interventions or funding special projects. Additionally, the CBN clarified that it has not authorized any public notices or announcements related to such interventions on social media platforms or through any other news outlets.

The Central Bank of Nigeria reiterated its commitment to its primary mandate of maintaining monetary and price stability, as well as fostering a sound and efficient financial system in Nigeria. In light of this, the CBN encouraged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or publications to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
