“Champions League: ‘You won’t face me with Man Utd,’ Guardiola teases Amorim.”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola recently commented on Ruben Amorim’s upcoming role as Manchester United’s head coach, suggesting that any face-offs between them would only occur in the Premier League or FA Cup. Guardiola spoke to reporters after Manchester City’s 4-1 Champions League loss to Amorim’s Sporting on Tuesday night. This match marked Amorim’s final home game with the Portuguese club, as he is set to officially take on his role as United’s head coach starting November 11.

Despite Guardiola’s own team going through a challenging period, with City suffering its third consecutive defeat, he didn’t hesitate to playfully highlight Manchester United’s current struggles in both the Premier League and Europa League. Reflecting on possible future encounters with Amorim, Guardiola stated, “We will face them two times in the Premier League and maybe in the FA Cup. In the Champions League, it is not possible.”

With this lighthearted jab, Guardiola underscored the absence of any potential Champions League clashes between Manchester City and United, leaving their rivalry to domestic competitions.
