Chelsea Women delivered a commanding 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace, strengthening their grip on the Women’s Super League (WSL) title with just three matches left in the season.
⚽ Scorers:
Reiten (22’), Macário (24’, 50’), Fishel (64’)
The Blues were in control from the outset, and the breakthrough came when Molly-Mae Sharpe handled inside the area. Though Shae Yanez got a hand to Guro Reiten’s penalty, the ball crept in to give Chelsea the lead.
Just two minutes later, Catarina Macário slotted in a second following a sharp assist from Ashley Lawrence. Palace’s uphill task worsened early in the second half when captain Allyson Swaby was sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring chance outside the box.
Macário capitalized on the resulting free-kick, her deflected shot finding the back of the net to make it 3-0. The final blow came in the 64th minute as Mia Fishel turned in Lucy Bronze’s knockdown for Chelsea’s fourth.
The dominant win sees Chelsea move six points clear at the top of the WSL, putting them in prime position for yet another league title. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace remain seven points from safety, rooted to the bottom of the table with time running out.
