The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has called on Nigerians to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, criticizing the administration for its failure to tackle the ongoing insecurity crisis in the country.
The CUPP expressed concern over the federal government’s perceived ineptitude in addressing the nation’s security challenges, which have become a growing concern for both citizens and investors, both local and foreign.
Mark Adebayo, the spokesperson for the CUPP, condemned the recent massacre of 40 farmers in Borno State by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on January 12, describing the tragedy as a stark example of the government’s inability to protect its citizens.
The coalition pointed to the worsening security situation across Nigeria, with countless lives lost and millions displaced due to terrorist attacks and kidnappings. It accused the ruling APC of failing in its duty to secure the nation, despite substantial investments in counter-terrorism initiatives.
The CUPP called for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s security infrastructure and stressed the need for a government capable of effectively addressing insecurity.
The group urged Nigerians to vote against the APC in 2027, warning of severe consequences if the current administration continues in power beyond that year. It also extended condolences to the families of the victims, calling for urgent action to restore peace and stability to the country.
