Dangote Refinery announces its inaugural export of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon.

Dangote Refinery, in collaboration with Neptune Oil, has announced the first-ever export of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from Africa’s largest oil refinery to Cameroon.

The 650,000 barrels per day refinery revealed this milestone in a statement on Wednesday. This achievement follows a strategic partnership between the two companies, which aims to strengthen economic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon while addressing the region’s increasing energy needs.

Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of Dangote Group, highlighted that this export represents a key step toward realizing the group’s vision for a united and energy-independent Africa. He added, “This development lays the groundwork for a future where African resources are refined and exchanged within the continent, benefiting our people.”

Antoine Ndzengue, Director and Owner of Neptune Oil, emphasized that this partnership marks a significant moment for Cameroon, as it becomes the first country to import petroleum products from Dangote Refinery. He stressed that this direct supply, free of international intermediaries, strengthens Cameroon’s energy security and promotes local economic growth. “This reflects our commitment to serving our markets independently and efficiently,” Ndzengue stated.

This announcement follows the recent launch of Dangote Petrol in Nigeria on September 15, 2024. Reports indicate that Dangote Refinery, along with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and other oil marketers, has agreed on direct sales of the refinery’s petroleum products, contributing to a slight reduction in PMS prices. Currently, petrol prices in Nigeria range between N1,060 and N1,150 per litre, depending on the location.
