Daniel Farke's Future in Doubt Despite Leeds United's Promotion to Premier League

Daniel Farke’s position as Leeds United manager is under serious scrutiny, even after guiding the club back to the Premier League. Sources close to the club reveal that 49ers Enterprises, Leeds’ American ownership group, are evaluating managerial options as they prepare for life in the top flight.

Farke, 48, who joined Leeds in July 2023, has now earned a remarkable third Championship promotion—two with Norwich City and one with Leeds. However, doubts remain over his Premier League credentials. Despite leading Norwich back to the top tier in 2020, he was sacked early in the 2021-22 season after a poor start, accumulating just five points from 11 matches before his dismissal—ironically following their first win of the season.

Reportedly, Farke has requested a significant squad overhaul to compete in the Premier League. While this aligns with the ambitions of Leeds’ hierarchy, it has also fueled speculation that the club may seek a new leader with stronger Premier League experience.

Chairman Paraag Marathe reaffirmed Leeds United’s long-term ambitions shortly after promotion was secured on Easter Monday, stating:
“The Premier League is where Leeds belong, and our goal is to establish a long-term presence there.”

With two Championship games remaining—against Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle—Leeds are still vying for the title, level on points with Burnley but ahead on goal difference.

Farke has two years left on his contract, but with high expectations from the £170 million ownership group, a managerial change remains a real possibility.
