Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has stated that President Bola Tinubu cannot end the hardships in Nigeria, even if he remains in power for 300 years. Adeyanju argues that the current administration lacks the solutions to the country’s challenges, including the economic struggles and widespread insecurity.
In a recent interview with DAILY POST, Adeyanju described Nigeria as a nation that increasingly feels like a “concentration camp,” where the poor suffer under harsh policies while the wealthy remain largely unaffected. He emphasized the disparity in taxation, noting that while the rich avoid heavy business taxes, the poor are burdened with exorbitant costs, including soaring fuel prices.
Adeyanju also condemned the government’s treatment of young protesters, accusing the authorities of unjustly arresting minors for protesting against bad governance. He further criticized the government for its lack of accountability, especially in addressing the growing threat of banditry and terrorism, while focusing heavily on silencing opposition through harsh measures.
On the issue of the upcoming 2027 election, Adeyanju urged political actors to unite against the current administration, stating that the key to overcoming Nigeria’s challenges lies in a collective effort to dismantle the ruling APC government. He stressed that the political divide must end if the country is to have a chance at recovery.
