“Former Watford captain Troy Deeney has urged Manchester United to offload 24-year-old Antony. Deeney criticized the Brazilian international for his lack of running and sprinting during matches.
This suggestion followed Antony’s underwhelming performance in Manchester United’s Carabao Cup quarter-final loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday. Antony was substituted after just 55 minutes, making way for Amad Diallo.
Speaking on CBS Sports, Deeney expressed his frustration with the former Ajax star’s play.
‘They’ve got to cut ties with him [Antony]. I don’t want to make him the scapegoat, but honestly, watching him is so frustrating. This is your big moment,’ Deeney said. ‘He doesn’t run, he doesn’t sprint… just get him out.
‘If you’re getting rid of Marcus Rashford, whoever takes him, we’ll pay them to take Antony as well. Get him out of the club.'”
